Weekly Roundup / May 28, 2021

The weekly roundup is my offering of inspiring things I found online in the past week. May they bring you some pearl of wisdom, joy, or humor.

Podcast – Rediscovering Your Widly Creative Self
Here are few of the many ideas from this interview that resonated with me:
-Do the thing that excites you most from your to-do list first
-“I don’t want to get to the end of my life and have missed the point.”
-Digital stuff in our lives isn’t adding value. Analog activities are.

Article – Shrek at 20: How a Chaotic Project Became a Beloved Hit
The story of the film’s production — a bumpy road where employees compared to “being sent to Siberia” and where the title character’s lines were recorded thrice — is inspiring to any creator. Persevere and you can create something great.

Video – The Colorful World of Alexander Girard
This is a must-watch for Herman Miller fans. Alexander Girard had a diverse design career. Everything from textiles, restaurant interiors (including glass and flatware), to fascinatingly the Braniff International Airways brand. Girard designed luggage tags, seat fabric, and even the sugar packets! It was part of a campaign called “the end of the plain plane“.

What has you excited for this holiday weekend?

Allegra
