Weekly Roundup / Mar 19, 2021

The weekly roundup is my offering of inspiring things I found online in the past week. May they bring you some pearl of wisdom, joy, or humor.

Blog Post – Maya Varadaraj collages
How stunning are these? I love the sense of movement and the use of negative space. The collages remind me of music because, of course, they look like records. I learned about this blog, The Jealous Creator, after taking Daniella Krysa’s Skillshare class: Creative Breakthrough.

Radio Clip – HBO Documentary Celebrates Black Art
NPR featured this new documentary, Black Art: In the Absence of Light, on Morning Edition by interviewing director Sam Pollard. The inclusion of the Obamas’ official White House portraits, by Kehinde Wiley and Amy Sherald, was what drew me in. They are such beautiful portraits and Wiley and Sherald were the first black artists to be invited to create presidential portraits for the Smithsonian.

Video – Colorful Brooklyn Townhouse Tour
Kelsey of Pepper has a gorgeous home; this is one of my favorite apartment tours I have seen in a while. Not only does she take risk with all the colors in the home, she also has great taste in textiles and has an eclectic mix of furniture types.

Tomorrow is the first day of spring! What do you hope to create in the new season?

Have a fabulous weekend,
Allegra
