Weekly Roundup / Mar 5, 2021

The weekly roundup is my offering of inspiring things I found online in the past week. May they bring you some pearl of wisdom, joy, or humor.

Video – Chick Corea, spontaneous composition
Chick Corea passed away earlier this month, which brought a lot of content to the surface about his life and work. I found this to be so charming, the first song in particular. It seemed hard to believe it was truly made on the spot because it sounded familiar; it could have been something I have heard before.

Article – Smith Tower Penthouse For Rent
The latest in local architecture news: the stunning pyramidal penthouse in Smith Tower, built in 1914, is for rent for the first time ever. I adore Smith Tower. It’s a gem of old-timeyness here in a city where we don’t have many old things. Like our version of the Chrysler Tower. It is now dwarfed by many higher high rises, but it will always have my heart. You can read some of its history here or more about the apartment here.

Video – Twyla Tharp’s Movin’ Out
I am currently reading Twyla’s book The Creative Habit (and will write a review of it eventually!). I had heard of the show Movin’ Out before, but didn’t know anything about it. It is categorized as a musical, but really that’s because there isn’t much else like it in the world; call it a rock ballet if you will. This number from the show is awesome. I love the lift near the beginning where the gal in red makes a full circle.

Did you find anything beautiful online this week?

Have a fabulous weekend,
Allegra
